QuickEditor User's Guide

Basics:

QuickEditor is based on a few principles, that need a little explaining:

  1. The movie you can modify and save in QuickEditor is called the MOVIE. It must be opened with the "Open MOVIE..." command in the File menu, and it is displayed and controlled from the MOVIE Panel.
  2. During the course of your editing, you'll want to paste sequences from other QuickTime movies into the MOVIE. Those movies are called CLIPs and must be opened with the "Open CLIP..." command in the File menu. Of course a CLIP is displayed and controlled from the CLIP Panel.
  3. QuickEditor rarely operate on whole movies, but rather on user-selected parts called Selections. A Selection is a segment of movie defined with a Start and End Point. Once you have defined a Selection in the CLIP, you can insert it anywhere in your MOVIE. Once you have defined a Selection in the MOVIE, you can delete it, apply a Video Effect to it, recompress it, change it's rate and duplicate it.
